Panorama
Steel Pan Ensemble
…music with the breezy sounds of the Caribbean
Percussion students from the Percussion Club in the NAU School of Music perform within this popular ensemble featuring “lead” steel pan (steel drums), “double-seconds” steel pan, electric bass, and percussion. The group’s repertoire blends the relaxing sounds of Caribbean pop with gentle influences of calypso, soca, jazz, reggae, and soul. From Bob Marley to Grammy-Award-winner Bobby McFerrin, from Jimmy Buffett to The Beach Boys and The Drifters; the island sounds of Panorama Steel soothe the soul with a musical breeze. A delightful alternative, Panorama Steel is a perfect choice for beautiful background ambiance, colorful atmospheric moods, or stirring dance music – just the right sound for a tropical get-away!
For those venues desiring spontaneous energy and spice, Panorama Steel can provide an up-beat limbo treat, complete with a competitive limbo bar and the driving grooves to fire up a dancing frenzy. So, limber up and get ready to shake it out!
…and for listener participation, audiences are invited to join in the music- making with hands-on percussion instruments: fruit shakers, bells, claves, maracas, and bongos! The more the merrier!!
Sample repertoire: Brown Eyed Girl, Jump In The Line, Oye Como Va, Day-O, Under the Sea, Don’t Worry-Be Happy, Margaritaville, Kiss the Girl, Blue Bossa, Every Breath I Take, Under the Boardwalk, Girl from Ipanema, Just the Two of Us, St. Thomas, I Can See Clearly Now, Groovin’, Come Monday, Kokomo, Guantanamera, Red-Red Wine, & more…
